H-1B Update from USCIS

H-1B

H-1B  Update:  USCIS  announced today that they have completed the data entry for all H-B cap subject petitions filed in April 2015.  They will now begin the process of returning H-1B cap-subject petitions that were not selected by the H-1B lottery.  USCIS requests that H-1B petitioners refrain from contacting them about the status of these petitions until receiving either a receipt notice or an unselected petition is returned.  USCIS will make an announcement once it has completed returning unselected petitions. They are not able to provide a time-frame on this process due to the high volume of filings this year.

H-1B Cap Reached

USCIS announced today that it has reached the H-1B Cap for 2016, including both the general category and the cap for advanced degree holders. USCIS will use a lottery system to select H-1B petitions that will be processed for a start date of October 1, 2015. USCIS cannot yet announce the date of the lottery due to the large number of H-1B petitions received.   Petitions not selected by the lottery will be returned along with the filing fees.
